Stone Cold

This lesson is based on the novel Stone Cold by Robert Swindells and discusses homelessness and the issues surrounding it in the UK.

Your child will look at the blurb of the book as well as the first section of the novel to make an initial judgement on what they think it’s about. They will explore the ways the opening of a novel can reveal a lot about the person telling the story and discuss the techniques writers can use to set the scene for the rest of the novel right from the start.

Your child will also answer true or false questions and look at pictures of homelessness alongside statistics on the topic to make decisions about what they believe is true or not.
