This lesson is the second in our ten-part series on The Normans.

The focus of this lesson is the Battle of Stamford Bridge; a key battle which had a knock-on effect leading up to the famous Battle of Hastings. Your child will learn about what might have happened during the battle, complete some map-work and understand the importance of being able to explain historical decisions.

Using the knowledge they’ve gained from both this lesson and their own research tasks, they will then give a convincing argument for what they believe to have occurred and complete some problem solving questions, too, imagining that they were various leaders who have to decide on the best course of action to be taken.

They will also complete some describing work, linking in with their English studies, and use key English techniques in their writing.
