The Tudor Poor – The Tudors Lesson 10

£3.49

This lesson is the last in our ten-part series on The Tudors.

To conclude our studies on the Tudors, we will look at the great chain of being and how society was categorised, paying special attention to those who lived in poverty.

Your child will learn how society was organised and draw a diagram to show their understanding before looking at what life was like for the poor, the different types of beggars in society, and why poverty was so prevalent during this time. How did people manage to make money, and how did the government help?

Your child will design a leaflet which included details about the different types of beggar and create a poster about the Tudor poor, using information they have gained by completing source work to support them.

Elizabeth went in a different direction towards the end of the reign, introducing the first Poor Law, and your child will complete a detailed writing task summarising these laws and answering questions about them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
