Description
This lesson is the fifth in our ten-part series on The Tudors.
The next Tudor monarch we will be turning our attention to is Mary I, who was queen from 1553 until 1558. She was a Roman Catholic and didn’t like the changes that had been introduced by her predecessors, so she changed it all back to how it was before. In this lesson, we will look at how far she went back and what people thought about these changes.
Your child will decide if they think Mary’s attempts to revert the religious changes will be successful and what actions she could have taken to do so. They will also look at her nickname of ‘Bloody Mary’ and why she got it before analysing whether it was fair for her to have been known as that or if it was just bad luck.
They will answer knowledge and understanding questions throughout the lessons and look at sources to support their opinions and decisions, too.
